What Do You Want?
Have you ever asked yourself just exactly what you want to achieve in business? Even better to ask, is why do you want to create and have a business at all? You have to ask this fundamental question to be able to grasp a direction and provide a foundation to build on. Most entrepreneurs answer this question with their “why.” Their why is the reason they are searching for a way to achieve something. Their why is the motivation for pushing them down the road of unknown to accomplish something they want
.
But what about you and I? What is our “why”? For me, my reason for creating a business is to find financial freedom. What is financial freedom? It is not just having enough money. It is the ability to have enough money to do what you really want, when you want and to be able to make a difference in the world. The being able to make a difference in the world to me, is the most important part of financial freedom. Besides not having to go in to work for someone else who controls your time and money, being financially free means you can help someone else and make a difference for the better. For me, that is my why. I want to have financial freedom and make a difference.
After we have our why, (You have to get yours. I have mine) now we determine steps to accomplish our why. But within our direction to get our main goal or why, we need smaller steps or mini-goals. These are the day to day building blocks that lay the next layer on our foundational why. These day to day mundane steps help us to progress to our ultimate goal.
Chris Farrell, a successive internet marketer and business man suggested 5 steps to achieve more. Even though they do not sound earth moving, they are steps he takes daily as he creates his success.
Plan Your Morning the Night Before
Straighten up your workspace so when you arrive the following morning, it is tidy and uncluttered. This saves you time and you can start on your new day and ideas.
Make a list that evening of what your want to do when you start working the following day.
Chris Farrell says “Having something to look forward to makes getting up easier.”
Set out a Learning Time
Every morning, spend 45 minutes LEARNING. This is studying something, a new tip for building your blog…reading chapter of a marketing or business tools book.
Set a sub-goal of this learning time mini-goal by LEARNING ONE THING new every single day
Chris believes how much money we make is related to how much value we can bring. So we need to learn new things to maintain and increase our value in the marketplace. I believe he is right. After all, he is valued as an entrepreneur from what he brings to his followers.
Earning Time
After LEARNING time, spend 45 minutes EARNING. But being a beginner, I think I will increase this time to 60 minutes.
This means work purely on the income generating mechanisms for business by:
Creating new content
Promoting a new product with advertising,
Posting a new blog post
Traffic strategy
Affiliate promotions
Utilizing a technique to increase my email list, etc
Mental Health Time
This may be reading a personal development book, an inspirational book, devotionals or for me the Bible. This renewing of the mind helps you stay grounded, encouraged and focused.
Chris also suggests learning a new mental skill or new word in another language, word puzzles or something that challenges your brain. He suggests the website Luminosity.
Physical Health Time
No, not lifting weights and running until you feel like you are going to drop. Not that lifting weights and running is bad, but it is not necessary to do to for physical health time. Difficult makes it easier not to do it. We need to be healthy to pursue any of our goals because without your health, nothing else really matters. Many of us do not spend any time on our physical health. We can start slowly by adding on a little at time. Before you know it, physical health time will just become a part of your daily routine and you will feel better which will reinforce your participation.
Chris suggests using the Audible app on your smart phone and download a book. Every morning or day walk at least 25 minutes and listen to your book. Incorporate time for stretching to add flexibility to your muscles and helps your blood circulation. Most important of all is to drink at least a liter of clean, pure water a day unless it is contraindicated by another health issue. Being hydrated helps your body’s immune system function properly. You will be pleasantly surprised how much better you feel just with increasing your water intake.
